Luke 10:21 KJV 1900
In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.
Introduction.
There are certain things in life which have always been assumed to bring wisdom.
unibrow test
Age.
Job 32:6–9 KJV 1900
And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, I am young, and ye are very old; Wherefore I was afraid, and durst not shew you mine opinion. I said, Days should speak, And multitude of years should teach wisdom. But there is a spirit in man: And the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding. Great men are not always wise: Neither do the aged understand judgment.
Learning.
2 Timothy 3:7 KJV 1900
Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Experience.
Every member of the Sanhedrin that tried Jesus was older and seemingly wiser than he was. All of Jesus disciples were young, around His age. Jesus wasn’t even old enough to sit in their council, didn’t have the family qualifications, and didn’t have the learning, but He was God made flesh.
They dismissed the Word because He hadn’t studied the Word long enough under the right teachers.

The grand maxims which obtain in the world are: The more power, the more money, the more learning, and the more reputation a man has, the more good he will do. And whenever a Christian, pursuing the noblest ends, forms his behavior by these maxims, he will infallibly (though perhaps by insensible degrees) decline into worldly prudence.

1 Corinthians 1:17–29 KJV 1900
For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence.
Why do you respect the people you respect? Is it because they have money? A big congregation? Can speak well? Are good with people? Or is it because they speak under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit?
You alone have the Words of eternal life.
James 2:1–9 KJV 1900
My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called? If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
We don’t judge a ministry by it’s eloquence or a member by their prosperity.
1 Corinthians 2:1–13 KJV 1900
And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
43 Eve, which was no doubt an intelligent person, the first right off of Adam, who was the son of God, and Eve certainly, being in that spot where there had been no sin, no place for sin, she certainly must have had a wonderful conception of what God was.
Because, every afternoon, she and her husband walked in the cool of the garden, in the evening, and talked face to face with God.
What an unreasonable thing that a person who would walk face to face with God, each day, and then would turn to the reasoning of something that reasoned her away from the Word of God!
44 We still got them. They so easily be reasoned away from the Word of God, after sitting in the Presence of God.
Seeing the Word of God preached, the Word of God made manifest, drunkards and sinners come to the altar and be converted and made new creatures in Christ..
..people of ill fame made ladies and gentlemen; and then to turn from that blessed Thing that led them to this Life, and then be perverted off after some kind of a creed, to become more popular or get into what they will call a better class of people.
45 Why, you’re in the best class that there is: sons and daughters of God.
Well, I like that company better than I would with all the kings and potentates, and everything else.
Give me that humble bunch of people, if they don’t know their right hand from their left!
As long as they know God, and love Him and serve Him, that’s the celebrity of Heaven, to me. Yes, sir!
65-0120 - Lean Not Unto Thy Own Understanding
James 3:13–18 KJV 1900
Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
James 4:1–7 KJV 1900
From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
When the Queen of Sheba went to see the Wisdom of Solomon, her priests warned her against it. She came anyway.
Where did Solomon’s wisdom come from?
2 Chronicles 1:11 KJV 1900
And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
2 Chronicles 1:12 KJV 1900
Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.
2 Chronicles 9:1–7 KJV 1900
And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to prove Solomon with hard questions at Jerusalem, with a very great company, and camels that bare spices, and gold in abundance, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart. And Solomon told her all her questions: and there was nothing hid from Solomon which he told her not. And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built, And the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel; his cupbearers also, and their apparel; and his ascent by which he went up into the house of the Lord; there was no more spirit in her. And she said to the king, It was a true report which I heard in mine own land of thine acts, and of thy wisdom: Howbeit I believed not their words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the one half of the greatness of thy wisdom was not told me: for thou exceedest the fame that I heard. Happy are thy men, and happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and hear thy wisdom.
2 Chronicles 9:23 KJV 1900
And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, that God had put in his heart.
When Jesus came, He came in such a way that they missed who He was, they were looking for another Solomon.
Luke 11:31 KJV 1900
The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
169 Then she turned to the audience, and she said, “All these things that I have heard is true, and it’s even greater than I heard about.”
Oh, there was no more life left in her, her breath was taken from her, ’cause here was a man that didn’t know her, a stranger, revealed the things that she wanted to know.
170 Oh, and Jesus standing there, which was more than Solomon! He was the fullness of the Godhead bodily.
He was the virgin-born Son of God. He clothed upon Him, and Jehovah Himself manifested in the flesh.
And here He was standing there in the fullness, and they said they wouldn’t believe Him, a greater discernment.
He was Solomon plus David, plus all the rest of them was all in Him. All the prophets was wound up in Him, a greater than Solomon.
171 And to even at that day, He said, “If you speak them words against Me, I’ll forgive you. But when the Holy Ghost comes, it’ll be greater than it is now, and more condemnation.”
172 And here we stand today seeing that very same God do the very same thing!
I believe she’ll rise in the Day of Judgment and condemn this generation, ’cause she repented and believed the message that Solomon was preaching, and believed on God. She seen something real.
173 You know, what’s the trouble today, there is people, many people, with the people that’s belongs and just go to church and have a creed.
See, they’ve seen so much just false, so much just statues, and so much of big fine buildings. And, we, let’s not never get off in that kind of a tantrum.
See, God don’t dwell in big buildings; He dwells in your heart. See, God don’t dwell in intellectual education; He is far from it. He dwells in humility, in your heart.
174 He dwells in His Word, and His Word comes into your heart and speaks Itself out, and declare. He interprets His Own Word through you.
He is trying to find somebody He can get a hold of, to show that He is still God. See? And He is, He will do that if He can just get somebody He can speak to.
64-0618 - The Presence Of God Unrecognized
Conclusion.
The wisdom that was hidden from the Priests was revealed to the disciples by election.
102 O men and women, tonight, if you could look around and see how close we are to the Coming of the Lord.
You who’ve put off the baptism of the Holy Ghost. You maybe relied upon some sensation, or something that you done that Satan can impersonate, and can’t have the real Spirit in you to go all the way in God’s promises.
How can a man that claims to have the Holy Ghost deny one Word of this Bible, being, “not right”? You can’t do it!
103 No matter how religious you are, how many churches you belong to, how many books your name’s on, if that genuine Holy Ghost is in you (which is this Word manifested), you’ll see the Message and the hour, because it’s the Holy Ghost that does it.
But there has to be something light that off, inspiration strike you. And if there’s…if you pour water on the ground, on the ground, and there’s no seed in there to strike it, how can it ever bring forth anything?
There’s nothing there to bring forth. That is, that only the Elected of God will see It.
104 The Elected of God seen It in Noah’s time, Moses’ time, Jesus’ time, the apostles’ time, Luther’s time, Wesley’s time, Pentecostal time, because that was the Seed that was on the earth when this inspiration was poured out.
Now while the inspiration’s poured out, to gather the Bride together, it’s only those who are Elected will see It.
Jesus said, “I thank Thee, Father, that Thou hast hid these things from the eyes of the wise and prudent, and revealed It to babes such as will learn.”
